Mueller Memorial • February 22, 2017

Last Sunday night KSTP News on channel 5 did a story about a cremation service currently under investigation in our state. If you watch the video of the report you’ll see that Heritage Cremation Provider is actually being investigated in several states for questionable business practices.

Today Licensed Funeral Director and owner of Mueller Memorial Funeral and Cremation Services, Scott Mueller, made this short video to give you four essential things to look for when choosing a cremation provider. TIP 1:
Check their website for
active contact information . Make sure that they list at least one way to get in contact with a real person, not just a 1-800 number, contact form or email address.

TIP 2:
Always look for a
locally owned  cremation provider. We have bricks-and-mortar investments in your community, so you know that when you need us, we will be there.

TIP 3:
Sign your documents in person.
For something this important you are going to have questions, and you want someone across the table from you to who can give you well-informed, honest answers.

TIP 4:
Don’t look for the lowest price, demand the highest value.
In order for a cremation provider to offer rock-bottom prices, you have to ask yourself, what concessions in service make it so cheap? What compromises in care are they making?

As you can see from the news report, this profession involves so much more than a financial transaction. There is an emotional transaction that take place and if the cremation service provider you select doesn’t respect that, you may save some in dollars and cents, but will likely pay for it in stress and heartache–like these women did.

If you follow these four simple tips you’ll be well on your way to making the best decision for your family at what will almost certainly be a difficult time.
