DIY Valentine 2019

Mueller Memorial • March 1, 2019

When you find a partner to spend your life with, one of the perks is no longer wondering what you’ll be doing on Valentine’s Day. You assume that you’ll have a date for life. Unfortunately, sometimes life doesn’t work out the way we’d hoped and we can find ourselves alone again on a day meant to celebrate couples.

We see this often at our funeral home and wanted to give widows, widowers, or anyone looking for a way to celebrate, something fun to do on this somewhat beloved, somewhat notorious, holiday.

So we put together a Valentine’s Day party at Mueller Memorial and invited the folks from CrateSpace in White Bear Lake to help our guests get a little crafty and DIY some decorative boards. Guests got to pick their board design at sign-up and had a custom stencil waiting for them at the event.

We all enjoyed wine and cheese, hors d’oeuvres, and chocolate covered strawberries before settling into our stations and getting to work. There was sanding, staining, stenciling, and a lot of laughing as we got to know our table mates and tried our best to become home décor artists.

The results were phenomenal! Everyone left that day with a beautiful, custom sign that had the colors and sayings that they wanted. Thank you to all the burgeoning artists who joined us and made this Valentine’s Day something really special.
