Something's changing
As a third-generation family-owned funeral home we’re honored to serve the Northeast Metro. But lately, we’ve heard concerning stories from families about their experiences with other funeral homes in the area—particularly those that have recently been sold to large, out-of-state corporations, like Sandberg Funeral Home and the Cremation Society of Minnesota have.
It's a problem
Alarmingly Mueller Memorial has actually been asked to take individuals into our care directly from these other local funeral homes because families were so dissatisfied with how they were treated. Families deciding to change funeral providers after the initial removal is a big statement. Local churches have also privately and publicly been moving their congregations away from these other funeral providers to Mueller Memorial.

Step by Step Guide for Transferring Funeral Prearrangement Plans in Minnesota

Minnesota law protects your right to transfer prearranged funeral plans, even if you've already paid for it. You’re free to choose a funeral home that feels like the best fit for you and your family. - Contact Your New Funeral Home
Reach out to the funeral home you want to transfer your plans to, like Mueller Memorial. Our team will guide you through the process and take care of most of the paperwork for you. - Provide Plan Details
Share the details of your existing plan with the new funeral home. This may include:
- The name of the funeral home you originally arranged with
- A copy of your prearrangement contract or funding documents (if available)
- Sign a Transfer Authorization
Mueller Memorial can provide a simple form for you to sign, authorizing the transfer of your prearrangement plan. This is a standard, straightforward document. - Let the Funeral Home Handle the Transfer
Once authorized, we will contact the original provider to coordinate the transfer. We'll help you avoid awkward conversations by contacting the other funeral home for you. - Review and Update Your Plan (Optional)
