William "Bill" Daly

DALY, William (Bill)
Age-83 Born in Minneapolis, Lived in St. Paul. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Daly. The youngest of four boys, (brothers Jim, Bob and Tom), Bill grew up in the Prospect Park area of Minneapolis, and graduated from St. Cecilia's Grade School in St. Paul. He went on to graduate from Benilde High School (Now Benilde-St. Margaret's) in
1961. He worked his way through college, working at Metropolitan Stadium and Hamm's Brewery. He proceeded to graduate from the University of Minnesota in 1965 and served in the Minnesota Army National Guard until 1972. He married the love of his life, Eileen Dannecker, in 1971.
Bill will be remembered for his devotion to duty, serving as head usher at the Cathedral of St. Paul for over 30 years and as a Trustee for the Cathedral for 16 years. He lived on the East Side of St. Paul, working first at Hamm's Brewery and ending his working career as General Manager of The E.M. Lohmann Company.
Bill will be remembered for his wit and the joy brought to all the meetings he attended, along with all his fish stories (and photos) that he seemed to be able to provide at a moment's notice. He was lucky enough to work for the Twins and the Vikings during their glorious beginning years (1961-1965) when professional ball players earned reasonable salaries and most of them worked part-time jobs in the off-season. (and there really was an off-season.
We wish a fond farewell to Bill as he moves on to that great stadium in the sky where all the seats are free, everyone has a great view of the playing field, where the sun is always shining and the players play for the fun of it and no swearing is allowed.
Service on Wednesday, July 29 at St. Pascal Baylon Church 1757 Conway St, St. Paul. Visitation 9:30, Mass 10:30am. Luncheon to follow. Burial at St. John's Cemetery, Burnsville. Memorials preferred to Cathedral of St. Paul or St. Pascal Baylon Church.
