Passed away on September 14, 2026. Preceded in death by son, Tom Ashton & soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Renee Nelson. Survived by wife, Phyllis Ashton; children, Cathi (Dick) Gunderson, Pat Ashton, Tim Ashton, and Colleen Ashton; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, John & Jackie Ashton; and other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 11am Thursday, September 24, 2026 at St. Jude of the Lake, 700 Mahtomedi Ave, Mahtomedi, MN, with visitation at 10am at the church. Reception to follow. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to St. Jude of the Lake Catholic School.
