Tim's Life Story

Tim had numerous tests upon being admitted to the ER on February 12. It was discovered he had congestive heart failure. His lungs were filled with fluid explaining his shortness of breath. They also found gallstones. Friday, February 13, 2026, Tim underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder. The surgery was aborted as a mass of cancer enfolded the gall bladder and the liver. From the moment he was told of his cancer and heart failure, he remained in positive spirits, continued to display his sense of humor and stayed strong in his faith. To think we went to Urgent Care because we thought he had an ulcer!

God gave us 25 days to pray for a miracle and get adjusted to this aggressive cancer. Tim had discomfort and some pain but it was managed with medication. During our 3rd visit to the ER and being admitted, we knew the liver was shutting down as the jaundice began. We got him home the evening of Thursday, March 5th. He was THRILLED! Tim saw his family together in front of the fireplace and saw his grandson playing. Timmy was at home a little over four days and then his spirit left us.

Tim is survived by his wife, Linnéa, daughter Kelsey, (Katie Walker), Trevor (Sam) Grandson (Wylder & baby on the way), brother Michael (Donna), sister Annie (Bruce), 6 nieces & nephews.

Tim was born to William and June (Patterson) Marrin in Jamaica, NY December 25, 1951. Tim's early education was spent in Catholic School. When he entered public school in Garden City, NY (Long Island), his fabulous education from the sisters followed him throughout his schooling.

Tim's life involved sports and music from an early age. He played bass violin in the orchestra and later played tuba in the band. In high school Tim was a lineman for the Garden City High School football team. As a big guy he earned the name, Ox. He graduated in 1969. Tim was involved in football, wrestling and lacrosse in high school and college. As an adult he coached college football at SUNY at Cortland, NY, his alma mater. Tim also played lacrosse and rugby for various NY teams.

Tim and Linnéa married in Rochester, NY in 1979. In 1980 they moved to South Florida to explore new careers. In Florida Tim played rugby and was active on several levels of ministry for the Presbyterian Churches he attended. His favorite was the music ministry where he played bass guitar with Linnéa's voice and piano. He worked in sales during his 18 years in South Florida.

While living in Cooper City, FL, Tim was the President of The Board for The Crisis Pregnancy Center in Davie, FL. He was passionate about educating men, women and families about the reality of a pregnancy. Tim wanted them to be equipped to make an educated decision in their personal crisis.

The family moved to White Bear Lake, MN in 1998 so that, at age 40, Tim could begin training for a career in orthotics and prosthetics. He graduated from Century College but not before initiating a group called OPSA, Orthodics & Prosthetics Student Association.

Tim was hired by Gillette Children's Hospital Lifetime where he worked full time for 21 years. 10 years into this career Tim earned the recognition of becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (FAAOP). It is a prestigious designation recognizing O & P professionals for sustained learning, professional excellence and community service.

Between Florida and Minnesota, Tim spent a total of 16 years as a volunteer coach for his children in all of their team sports.

As Tim pursued his practice in O & P, he found a creative outlet that he loved...theatre. He began auditioning at Lakeshore Players Community Theatre on Stewart St. in White Bear. He won meaningful roles in 6 musicals which included the butler in, "Annie", the gatekeeper in, "The Wizard of Oz" and Abel Frake in, "State Fair". He always wanted to act on stage with his wife, Linnéa. His dream came true when he reenacted his role as Abel Frake, in, "State Fair" with Linnéa and the Roseville Players at the Como Park Pavillion.

As a member of The Community of Grace Lutheran Church in White Bear, Tim enjoyed playing bass in the worship band. Another of Tim's music delights was to sing with his wife with The Bend In The River Big Band. They recorded a song together on their Christmas album!

In January 2026, Tim became semi retired working two days a week. Nine days before he died, Tim officially retired.

Tim had a fun flare for socks. He is currently wearing socks bearing pictures of 'Himself' and Snow White! You are invited to wear your flashiest socks and share them at our gathering! We also invite you to wear a color that expresses celebration to you:)

Tim touched many communities of people during his time on earth. He enjoyed giving to, caring for and loving people. He is in heaven and saying, "It was a Wonderful Life!"
