Scott Klohn
"The Music Man"

Practically born with a microphone in his hand, Scott was a true entertainer at heart.

From an early age, Scott dreamed of becoming a disc jockey. He spent countless hours recording songs off the radio on his Panasonic cassette deck, carefully crafting mix tapes and figuring out which songs flowed best together-long before technology made it easy. His passion for music and seamless transitions was evident even then.

Before he was old enough to drive, Scott would regularly ride his bike to KDWB, where staff recognized his enthusiasm and welcomed him into the live broadcast studio-an early glimpse of the career he was meant to pursue.

Scott attended Lakewood Community College and graduated from the Brown Institute, launching his radio career at KAUS in Austin, Minnesota. His dream came full circle when he joined KQRS, working as a disc jockey on-air and in promotions. He later became a disc jockey and program director at Hot Rocking K104, where his instinct for music stood out. Scott had a remarkable ability to identify future hits and was among the first to play several classic songs of the 1980s.

His love of entertaining extended beyond radio into his wedding DJ business, where he brought energy and joy to hundreds of celebrations. Scott had a unique ability to connect with people, keeping dance floors full and creating lasting memories on some of the most important days in others' lives.

Scott brought entertainment wherever he went-family gatherings, holidays, and parties were never complete without his trivia, games, and prizes. He also loved sharing stories from his time working as a summer tour guide on the North Shore Scenic Railroad and during winters at Spirit Mountain.

Over the past nine years, Scott faced COPD with strength and resilience, though his health declined more rapidly in recent years. Last fall, he moved to the Lodges in White Bear Lake, which he fondly referred to as his "five-star hotel." There, he formed meaningful friendships and continued doing what he loved-bringing people together-and purchased a karaoke machine to entertain fellow residents.

Scott stayed deeply connected with his family, organizing and faithfully hosting a daily family call with consistency and care.

Scott's faith in Christ was an important part of his life and gave him strength, especially in recent years.

Above all, Scott had a kind and generous heart. He wanted everyone around him to feel included, valued, and loved. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

On June 21, 2026, Scott, age 70, of White Bear Lake, passed away unexpectedly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Klohn. Scott is survived by his father, Edward "Milt" Klohn; two brothers; one sister; seven beloved nieces and nephews; and twelve great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Scott's life will be held at a later date, with more information to follow.
