Ralph James McDonough Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away on January 30, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was loved by all his family and many friends. He was born June 13, 1932 in St. Paul, MN and served with the Army Security Agency in Japan and received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1956. He married his first wife Martha in 1956. She passed away March, 1986. He graduated from St. Agnes High School and The University of St. Thomas. He taught for 31 years at Humboldt High School specializing in English and Latin. He was also the Hockey and Baseball coach for all those years until his retirement in 1991. Ralph had a very active retirement. He attended his grandchildren’s hockey, baseball and football games. Spent time fishing, golfing, and time at the lake cabin in Wisconsin. He also traveled all over the world with his second wife Shirley for over 33 years. He especially loved sharing his jokes and memories of growing up on the East Side and all the fun he had as a teacher and coach. Preceded in death by his first wife Martha, daughters Sheila and Michaela (Andersen). Survived by wife of 33 years Shirley. Daughters Maura (Tom Wallgren), Ellen Rose. Sons Mogey (Jennifer McDonough) Marty (Robyn McDonough), Jocko (Linda McDonough) and son-in-law, Brian Andersen. 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Brother Tom McDonough, sisters, Margaret Capocasa and Kathleen Gifford. Many other family members and friends. In memory, no flowers, please. The family prefers a memorial of your choosing and a special thanks to Health Partners Hospice and the wonderful staff that was immediately there when needed. RESCHEDULE NOTICE: A private family visitation and mass will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. Pascal Baylon Church. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date when we can all safely gather.
