Michael “Mike” Myron Mayfield passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on July 12, 2025, at the age of 69. He was the heart of his family and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Elizabeth (Bidwell) Mayfield; his children, Matt (Nicole), Leah, Luke and son-in-law, Jason; and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan (9), Hayden (8), and Elora (6). He also leaves behind his sisters, Chris (Greg) Green, Ruth (Bob) Hanson, and Karen (Dane) Clausen, along with many nieces and nephews who adored him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Elaine Mayfield and son, Paul.
Mike was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in family. He adored his three grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. Mike shared a deep bond with his wife, Liz – his best friend and the love of his life – and together they enjoyed countless adventures, especially their memorable cruises with close friends.
An avid outdoorsman, Mike had a lifelong passion for fishing and was happiest on the boat with his family. He was a true music lover, often found listening to the sounds of ZZ Top, Hank Williams, and ELO. His love of classic cars was unmistakable – even if his own restoration project was always a work in progress.
Mike was also a talented woodworker, with a “honey-do” list from his wife that never seemed to end. He took pride in crafting beautiful furniture and one-of-a-kind pieces for so many people, always pouring his heart and skill into every project. He also enjoyed maintaining his saltwater pool and yard, taking pride in the home that he and Liz built together.
He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh – just as much as he enjoyed making others laugh. His spirit was joyful, his presence comforting, and his love for life was infectious.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit and legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren – in the stories they tell, the laughter they share, and the love he passed down that will never fade.
Known for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit, Mike brought joy to every gathering and was the glue that held his family together. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 2nd, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Running Aces, 15201 Running Aces Blvd, Forest Lake, MN 55025.
