Melva Ahrens

Melva Jane (Danielson) Ahrens, 77, of Little Canada, MN passed away on May 2, 2026 in Maplewood, MN.

Melva was born in 1948 in Estherville, IA, the daughter of the late Melvin and Edna Danielson. She graduated from St. Mary's College pursuing a career in medical records. Melva had a long career, retiring in 2008 from Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Melva was a devoted member of the church supporting numerous groups including a chaplain outreach and composing correspondence to church elderly. She was actively involved in her daughters' school by volunteering during fundraising activities. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, especially of Louis L'Amour novels and enjoyed baking cakes and brownies for family and friends.

Melva married the love of her life Duane Ahrens on June 6, 1971 in Armstrong, IA and shared 55 wonderful years together. Melva is survived by her loving husband, three daughters, Angela Ahrens, Andrea Welch (Dan), Allison Tranberg (Eric); grandchildren Madyson, Kylie, Jared, and Gwendolyn; sister Marilyn Berg and nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will be held for Melva on Monday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2475 17th Avenue East, North St. Paul, MN with a service at 11 a.m.; light refreshments to follow. Private interment will be held at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Melva to a favorite charity of the donor's choice.
