In her elementary and high school years, she actively participated in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Orchestra and her high school band including both jazz band and marching band. She was passionate about her work and was a student of each role she held from working the drive-up window at Burger King, to managing databases, to running engineering leadership development programs, to evangelizing the Agile mindset of software and product development. She married her husband Bill Fischer in 1997, and together they have two children, Sam and Matt Fischer. As a family, they enjoyed traveling - especially all things Disney - also camping, and attending activities for band, scouts and lacrosse to support and cheer on Sam and Matt. She was extremely proud of them. She was an avid University of Minnesota Gopher fan and enjoyed many craft hobbies including sewing, embroidery, and scrapbooking.
