Passed away peacefully with her family beside her on March 10, 2022.

She was born on August 12, 1955 in Fort Sumter, South Carolina, to Donald and Nancy Butler.

Melanie married Randy Schroeder on December 21, 1974. The couple had 2 children, Willy and Andrea.

Melanie had a strong love for people and especially for children. This was shown through her many years as a para for the local school system. When Melanie had spare time, she enjoyed reading, taking her dog, Muffin, for walks and collecting turtles.

Melanie is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Randy; her daughter, Andrea (Erik) Stanton; her sister-in-law, Iris; her niece and nephews, Grant, Anna and Jack and many other extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Willy; her parents, Nancy and Don Butler and her in-laws, Eva and William Schroeder.

A Celebration of Melanie's Life will be at 4:00pm on Saturday, April 2nd at The Lake Elmo Event Center, 3712 Layton Ave. N., Lake Elmo. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm and a reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Melanie's name to Smile Train and Heifer International.
