Listen to Obituary

Matthew Vincent Marier passed away unexpectedly at age 57 on January 19, 2026, in his home with his wife by his side.

Matt was the youngest of six children born to Quentin and Joan Marier on December 24, 1968. He was a lifelong resident of Hugo and brightened the lives of many in the community. He graduated from White Bear Lake High School and had a career as an electrician, construction worker, and most recently as a mechanic at the family business, Hugo Equipment.

Matt was a sweet, kind and generous man, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved to tell stories and had a knack for making people laugh.

He loved being in the great outdoors, deer hunting and fishing, but mostly he lived for duck season. Matt spent hours upon hours in his boat with his dogs and proudly displayed his decoys in the front yard. At home he enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. Matt was also very creative and artistic; he liked to make things with wood and to paint.

Matt is survived by wife, Sarah Jane (Anderson) Marier; father, Quentin Marier; siblings Joseph Marier; Ann (Scott) Ringlien; Edward (Carolyn) Marier; Margaret Marier; and Jeffrey (Gennyber) Marier. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan (Reimer) Marier.
