Marjorie Du Fresne

Our loving mother, Marjorie (Belisle) DuFresne, passed away on January 11, 2021 at Waverly Gardens Care Center at the age of 97. Marge was born on April 1, 1923 in Somerset, WI to Fred and Agnes Belisle. On May 5, 1945 she married her hometown sweetheart, Lee DuFresne, and the couple moved to St. Paul, MN where they raised their 5 children. After 62 years of marriage, Lee passed away in 2008. Marge grew up on a farm north of Somerset which included Whispering Pines, her family’s resort on the Apple River. As a child, one of Marge’s chores was to deliver fresh eggs to each cabin every morning. It was only after they fled in the middle of the night was it discovered that Marge had delivered eggs to Dillinger and his gang. Marge was all about caring for her family and creating a stable and loving home. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, bowling and golf. Marge was an active and long- time parishioner (72 years) of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Maplewood, MN. Marge set an example of faith in action through her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and her weekly visits to local nursing homes to lead the praying of the Rosary as a member of The Legion of Mary. Marge and Lee enjoyed 46 years of summer weekends at the family cabin on Balsam Lake, WI. Her children and grandchildren will remember Marge for her practical, no nonsense attitude toward life, her love of playing cards and her deep commitment to faith and family. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Lee, daughter Gail Sergot and son in law Stan Sergot. She is survived by children Pat (Pat) Conway, Bob (Diane) DuFresne, Doug (Yvette) DuFresne, Mary Ellen (Jim) Weber; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister Isabelle Montgomery, sister-in-law Sr. Elaine Dufresne, brother-in-law Norm (Carol) Dufresne.
