Marilyn Blais

July 2, 1943 — May 18, 2023

Maplewood, MN

Blais, Marilyn L.

Peacefully at age 79 of Maplewood. Preceded in death by parents, husband, David and son Daniel. Survived by her daughter Barbara (Chris) Rueb of St. Paul and 2 grandchildren: Calvin & Jonah. Also by brother Ronald Kjelsberg of St. Paul. Private services were held. Marilyn enjoyed working for many years in administration at the University of St. Thomas School of Education. After retiring she moved to her “dream” townhouse which she enjoyed decorating, especially at Christmas time when she hosted Christmas Eve dinner for her family. She spent many happy hours in front of her fireplace or on her screened porch enjoying her view of the pond. Always important to her were her two grandsons, they brought her much joy. In recent years Marilyn began to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. In 2020 she moved from her townhome to Ecumen Lakeview Commons, first to assisted living and then to memory care. It was a new stage of life but one that Marilyn enjoyed many parts of. She had an apartment that she made her own and kept as neat as her townhome. She was blessed to be surrounded by such caring and understanding staff. She made many friends with both the staff and residents. She was a walker till her last days and had a reputation for always being up and about. During her last weeks Marilyn was cared for at her apartment with great kindness by the staff of Ecumen Hospice.

Private services were held.
