Margaret "Patsy" Patricia Scanlon Schweiger
Age 84, of St. Paul, Minnesota

Margaret "Patsy" Schweiger passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026.

Born March 15, 1942, in County Kerry, Ireland, Patsy was one of thirteen children. After losing her mother as a young woman, she helped care for her younger siblings - an early expression of the deep devotion to family that defined her life.

Patsy trained as a nurse in England, before immigrating to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1967, and began a long and dedicated nursing career. She married William Schweiger in June 1968, and together they raised four children: Robert, Patrick, John, and Kerry. Of motherhood, Patsy once said, "It is like Christmas every day with my four children."

A skilled and compassionate nurse, Patsy spent decades caring for others, including many years at St. Joseph's Hospital and United Hospital. In retirement, she delighted in helping care for her six grandchildren and sharing her Irish heritage with them and their classmates through annual St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

Patsy found happiness in life's simple pleasures: tending her beautiful garden and beloved Irish nasturtium flowers, knitting intricate Aran pattern sweaters and blankets where she even won 1st place at the Minnesota State Fair craft competition, taking her daily four-mile walk in rain, snow, or shine, and welcoming visitors by putting the kettle on. A cup of hot tea, homemade raisin scones, and her black currant jam were Patsy's unmistakable way of making you feel at home.

Above all, Patsy will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a caring nurse, a woman proud of her Irish roots, and a loyal friend. Her quick wit, amazing advice, unforgettable one-liners, faith, and singular personality brought laughter and love to those fortunate enough to know her.

Patsy is survived by William Schweiger; and her children, Robert (Lisa) Schweiger, Patrick Schweiger, John Schweiger, and Kerry (Ryan) Kirvida; and her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Sean and Ryan Schweiger, and Liam, Ronan and Josephine Kirvida. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
