The family of Judith ‘Judy’ Kluempke is heartbroken to announce her passing on Monday May 4, 2026, at the age of 80. Judy was born on May 20, 1945, in St. Paul, MN
After graduating from Our Lady of Peace High School in 1963, Judy continued her education at St. Mary’s college for Medical Transcription.
In her younger years, Judy could often be found at her father’s drug store, Kadela Drug Store, where she loved spending time with family and friends. Located on the corner of Marshall & Cretin in St. Paul. The Store became a special part of her early life, and making chocolate malts was one of her specialties.
Judy will be remembered for her love of photography as she loved taking pictures and always believed in capturing every moment whether it was large or small. She always believed images would provide lasting memories for all to share. Judy loved the outdoors, especially Fall when the trees turned into such bright and vivid colors. Judy always joked that she could still water ski regardless of her age. And while this was never tested, we all know she would have tried.
Judy was fascinated by the weather, and we remember mom sitting on the living room couch watching the storms regardless of how strong they seemed. In her later years she would always call, text, and email us warning us of impending storms and asking if we were ok.
She was also addicted to watching her favorite sport team, the Minnesota Vikings, no matter how many opportunities at greatness the team let slip by.
Judy loved her two children, two grandchildren and extended family with all her heart. She also loved animals, especially her ‘grand’ dogs and cats owned by her children.
Judy is survived by her children Neil (Stacy) of Waconia, MN and Jennifer (Brandon) Nitschke of West Fargo, ND and her two grandchildren, Karlie and Alex Kluempke, who all loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Dorothy Kadela, Her brother Jim Kadela and her sister Cheryl.
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held from 10 AM - 12 PM on Thursday June 4, 2026, at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul, with a service beginning at 11:30 AM. An interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
