John was introduced to the world of dry cleaning at the young age of 16, he paused to serve his country in the United States Army. When he returned home he went right back into the dry cleaning business, this time as manager, until the company sold and began franchising. Deciding to venture into ownership, John bought two of the businesses, and in 1976 he bought Gold Eagle Dry Cleaning in Roseville, and was the proud owner until his retirement. He was known for his remarkable ability to clean just about anything!
Beyond work, John loved gardening, and spent hours enjoying nature, holding a special fondness for birds. He was also a great dancer and could often be found enjoying a game of cards or watching his favorite sports teams. Both Ruby and John enjoyed outings and social times with friends, especially as a part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival and the royal family. With Ruby in the role as the beloved Klondike Kate, John fully embraced and joined in on the merriment and become affectionately known as "Mr. Kate." Above all, family meant the world to John, and he cherished his close bonds with his grandchildren and great nephew. He will be deeply missed by many but especially by his family and those who loved him.
