Jim's Lifestory

James Raymond Thompson was born on September 11, 1956 to Dorothy Ann and James R. Thompson. Jim graduated from Highland High School in 1973. Shortly after graduating he entered the Navy. He was on the Westpack tour, spending much time in the South Pacific. He finished the last year of his navel career in Sardinia, Italy. After his 4 years in the Navy he worked at Waldorf Paper.

After leaving Waldorf paper he started his career at the United States Postal Service. He spent most of his career as a Union Steward, a carrier and a clerk. He retired in 2018 after more than 32 years of servitude.

He married Katrina in 1987 and together they started a beautiful and loving family. The divorced some time later but remained friends over the years.

Jim married Sherrie 2018. Much of his retirement was spent bicycling, working out and traveling until he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2023.

Through his last year he underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Though the battle was long and hard, he never lost his wit and sense of humor. February 1st, 2024, Jim closed his eyes for the last time with Sherri and his beloved dog Coco by his side.
