Kurzweg, Janette, age 90, of White Bear Lake, formerly of West Saint Paul, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Sr. Janette is lovingly survived by her sons, David Jr. (Renee), Paul (Christine), and Richard (Brenda); her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Elizabeth, Erich, Sonja, Dieter, Lynette, Brittany, Ashley, Garrett, Tayler, and Madison; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, June DeViney and Jackie (Jim) Brandt; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Janette grew up on Smith Avenue in West St. Paul, a place that always held a special place in her heart. As an adult, she often brought her sons back to the neighborhood, pointing out familiar landmarks and sharing stories from her childhood. Those memories were treasures she loved to pass down.
She worked for the State of Minnesota for 20 years and was at the forefront of data entry during its early days, a role that reflected both her intelligence and her strong work ethic.
Janette loved to dance and met her husband, David Sr., at a dance in Wisconsin. She noticed right away what an excellent dancer he was, and together they spent much of their early marriage enjoying evenings on the dance floor. Dancing remained one of the many joys they shared.
Eventually, they settled in White Bear Lake, where they raised their three boys. Janette created a warm and welcoming home, making sure her sons always knew they were deeply loved. She also formed special bonds with her daughters-in-law, welcoming them into the family with genuine kindness and care.
She had a true gift for cooking. Her stuffed green peppers and lasagna were family favorites, including potato chip hot dish. She was especially known for her German dishes, including potato dumplings, red cabbage, and sauerbraten. Meals at her table were an expression of love.
Janette enjoyed traveling in her younger years and continued making memories on family trips throughout her life. Some of her favorite destinations included Germany, Las Vegas, Lake of the Woods, and areas along the Canadian border. Many of these trips included fishing, snowmobiling, and simply spending quality time with family, especially her husband, sisters, and in-laws. The family property in Duxbury was particularly meaningful to her. She especially cherished the Christmas season there, including the tradition of traveling together to pick out the family Christmas tree.
Janette had a strong sense of style and took great pride in her appearance. She was always well put together, and her home reflected that same care, neat, organized, and beautifully kept. Her bed was always made properly, and even later in life at the care center, she maintained that standard, often showing staff how to make a bed "the right way."
Above all, Janette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She valued time with her family beyond all else. Her warmth, strength, and loving presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
