James "Jim" Joel Seidel

February 16, 1952 ~ October 10, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Seidel, age 74. He passed away peacefully at United Hospital surrounded by his loving family on October 10th after a brief illness.

Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Alice (Gehl). Jim is survived by his sisters June Bean of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda Lindgren (Mark) of White Bear Lake and brother Clarence of St. Paul; many nieces, nephews near and far away.

Jim was a graduate of Harding High School. He worked 37 years at Emma Norton Residence as a night watchman as well as other jobs. He took pride in keeping the residents and building safe on his watch.

Jim loved to work puzzles, collect stamps and visit the North Shore of MN. He was the family "weatherman", making sure to notify us of any adverse weather changes that we needed to know of to keep safe.

He has a special bond with his brother, Clarence. Jim helped at the old homestead, mowing grass in the summer and plowing snow in the winter. They enjoyed eating out at Culvers and the Little Oven restaurants, among other things.

He called his sisters "Sis". His sense of humor was still intact at the end of his life. However, it wasn't always appreciated. He once give Linda a "fake" yellow rose and told her to "put it in water" (It looked real!)

Jim will be dearly missed and be remembered as a kind and caring man, brother and uncle. We will celebrate Jim's life at a later time when relatives from out of state can attend the memorial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Emma Norton Services (emmanorton.org) or a charity of your choice.

Our family wishes to thank all of you involved in caring for Jim in his last, brief weeks of life: the paramedics of St. Paul, United Hospital ER and ICU, MD's and nurses of United Hospital, Laura of St. Croix Hospice, Allina Home Care and the Cancer Allina Team- Your loving kindness and professional care of Jim and us will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
