10/22/1944 - 12/4/2020 James Joseph Markie, age 76 of St Paul, MN, passed away on December 4, 2020 with his family by his side. Jim was born in St Paul, MN on October 22, 1944. He grew up in White Bear Lake, MN, and entered the military at age 18. Upon returning from the military, Jim held various positions during his lifetime career at the BNSF Railway. He was active in sports, loved running, volley ball, and golfing with his buddies. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially his great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Blaine and Marie, step-mother Claire, brothers Robert & Alfred, great grandson Aidyn Severance, nephews Brad Olson and Darin Markie, sister-in-law Willie Markie, step brother-in-law Bob Mottaz, and step sister-in-law Sue Coyne. Jim is survived by wife Nancy, daughters Shawn (Dan) Yorga, Robin Johnson, siblings Mary Ann (Gary) Moen, Patricia Olson, Dennis (Barb), Karen Baker, Joan (Bruce) Hoye, grandchildren Jessica (Brian) Hauck, Amber (Brandon) Elias, Kailey Yorga (Judd), Tony Yorga (Amanda), Joe Severance (Sara), Brittany Severance (Josh), Cooper Severance (Jose'), Ellie Severance. Great grandchildren Finley and Evie Hauck, Blakely, Tatum, and Dempsey Elias, Ryder and Wyatt Stoltz, Hailey Severance. Step-siblings Peg (Bob) Fortmann, Marian Mottaz, Pat (Margaret) Coyne, Tim (Sharon) Coyne, brother-in-law Allen Paakkonen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, including his best buddy, Gordi Crupi. We want to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Good Samaritan Society Stillwater for their dedicated and loving care for Jim, especially during this difficult time of COVID. You are appreciated so very much. Due to covid restrictions, JIm's family will have a private service and burial.
