Jake David Zangs

Jake David Zangs, age 36 of St. Paul, passed away on August 9, 2026.

Jake was born on October 26, 1989 to Dan and Patty Zangs. He was the youngest of their three boys, growing up alongside his brothers in the Rice Street area. He attended St. Bernards from kindergarten through 12th grade. Throughout his childhood, Jake played youth sports and was always great at football. Later on, he gave back to his community by coaching in the area. He also dedicated 16 years to his accounting career at Securian Financial.

Above all, Jake was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend who loved with his whole heart. He had a gift for making people laugh (even if the joke was sometimes at your own expense). Jake was insightful and intelligent, a thoughtful listener, and the kind of person who was always there when you needed him.

Jake had a wide range of interests and loved music, video games, sports, comics, and movies. But of the many things he loved, spending time with his family was always his favorite. One of Jake's family's most cherished memories will be their last beautiful trip together to Duluth this summer.

Jake's playful smirk, thoughtfulness, and enormous capacity to love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the many stories, laughs, and moments shared with those who love him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Doris Zangs, and Russell and Jeannette Heys; as well as his beloved childhood German Shepard, Kody. Jake is survived by his parents, Dan and Patty Zangs; brothers Russell (Ann) Zangs and Beau (Kelly) Zangs; nephews Oliver, Elliot, and Felix; nieces Nora and Molly; and many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, August 24 at MUELLER MEMORIAL 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul. A Prayer Service honoring Jake's life will begin at 6 PM.
