Life Story for Harvey Dale Erickson:
Harvey was born in Braham, Minnesota on July 7, 1942, He was the first-born son of Verner and Mable Erickson. He graduated from Pine City High School in Pine City, Minnesota. Harvey joined the Navy in 1960 and served until 1968 when he was honorably discharged.
Harvey met his loving wife Patricia while he was in the Navy, and the two were married on May 18, 1963, at the New London, Connecticut Submarine Base. After his discharge, Harvey and Pat moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota and raised three daughters Sheryl, Annette and Cathy. During his career Harvey worked for American Hoist, the City of St. Paul Traffic Control Department, and 3M Corporation in Cottage Grove. After 23 years of service, he retired from 3M in 2004.
After retiring Harvey couldn’t sit still. He went on to do odd jobs helping people in the neighborhood, family and friends. He also worked with his good friend Leroy Peickert doing electrical work on different projects.
It wasn’t all work for Harvey. He enjoyed many relaxing outdoor activities including camping, hunting, fishing, boating and water skiing. He and his family spent many summers at the Rushmore Campground in Rush Lake, Minnesota. He was also an avid snowmobile enthusiast and spent many hours snowmobiling on White Bear Lake, in the area around Pine City, Minnesota, and on the family property in Brook Park, Minnesota.
When he wasn’t hunting, fishing, camping or snowmobiling, Harvey enjoyed spending time at his pole barn and property. He erected a pole barn on the property where he stored all his big boy toys including 2 tractors, 2 boats, snowmobiles and ATV’s. It was his sanctuary and home away from home in his later years.
Harvey passed away from complications of Lewy Body Dementia on July 2, 2025, just a few days shy of his 84th birthday. Harvey was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 55 yrs Patricia Erickson, Parents: Mabel and Verner Erickson, brothers: Everett and Jerry Erickson and his sister Donna Spar. He is Survived by his daughters Sheryl (pup-pups) Annette (Doug) Crews and Cathy (Mike) Kaufman. Six Grandkids: Dominic Crews, Rachel Bergstrom, Scott Kaufman, Gabriella Wieland, Katie Kaufman and Jordan Wieland also his Great Grandchild Grayson and many nieces and nephews.
A very special thank you to his Home Aide Monika Rhone as well as the staff from St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City. There will be a celebration of life at Mueller Memorial in White Bear Lake on Wednesday July 23, 2025, Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a celebration of life service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery following the service.
