Doris A. Frank

Beloved Mom & Grandma

Age 89

Doris Ann Frank, the heart and soul of her family and a longtime pillar of the White Bear Lake community, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at the age of 89. Known to many as the "most adorable lady of all time," Doris leaves behind a legacy of creativity, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. A Life of Adventure and Love Born in St. Paul on November 22, 1936, to Alphonse and Catherine Fuchs, Doris grew up as the middle of three children. After graduating from Humboldt High School in 1954 and beginning her career at Minnesota State Bank, her life changed forever at a 3M Company dance. It was there she met the love of her life, Lloyd Frank. They were married on October 24, 1959, at St.Matthew’s Catholic Church, beginning a beautiful 62-year journey together until his passing in January 2022. Their early years took them to Atlanta and Alabama for Lloyd’s career, where they welcomed their first two children, Dennis and Deborah. In the mid-60s, they returned to Minnesota, settling in White Bear Lake to complete their family with Lisa, Brian, and Brenda. In the home they built there, Doris created a sanctuary of warmth, making "forever friends" with neighbors and finding a spiritual home as a longtime parishioner at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

 Hands Guided by Heart

Doris was a woman of remarkable talent and heart. After raising her children, she spent 20 years at Sears in the Maplewood Mall, eventually becoming a supervisor, a title she was very proud of. More than just a job, Sears gave her a cherished circle of "Sears Ladies" who remained her close friends for life. Doris also had a creative side. Having saved for her first sewing machine at age 19, Doris spent a lifetime stitching love into every seam, from her own outfits to the annual holiday dresses she made for her daughters and granddaughters. For over 20 years, her weekly ceramics nights with neighbors resulted in hundreds of hand-painted treasures that now adorn the homes of her children and grandchildren every holiday season.

Joy in the Small Things

Doris lived life to the fullest, never letting rheumatoid arthritis dampen her spirit. She and Lloyd were fixtures on the dance floor and at dinner parties, always the first to celebrate an anniversary or ring in the New Year. They spent their winters soaking up the sun in Mexico for over 30 years and their summers at the lake lot near Garrison, Minnesota, where the "north woods" became a backdrop for countless memories with friends and family.

At home, Doris was a dedicated follower of The Young and the Restless (a passion she eventually convinced Lloyd to join) and a modern "grandma" who loved connecting with her family on Facebook—leaving enthusiastic comments and plenty of emojis on every photo.

Faith, Family, and Legacy

Above all, Doris was a woman of deep and devout faith. She found great peace in the Rosary and her devotion to the Saints, living a life that was a testament to her beliefs. But perhaps her greatest witness was the way she loved her family. Her bright eyes and wonderful smile could light up any room, offering a sense of comfort and home to everyone she met.

Doris was the glue that held her large family together, never missing a birthday, a sporting event, or a school program. Her legacy is not just in the ceramic keepsakes or the hand-sewn dresses, but in the lessons of resilience and joy she imparted to her 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was a woman who was truly loved by all, and the void she leaves behind is as vast as the love she gave. She will be missed beyond measure, but her spirit remains in every holiday tradition and every "enthusiastic emoji" her family shares.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Frank; her parents, Alphonse and Catherine Fuchs; and her brother, Donald Fuchs.

She is survived by her five children: Dennis (Vicki) Frank, Deborah (Michael) Fleetham, Lisa Mascia, Brian (Sandi) Frank, and Brenda Davis. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Robert Fox (MaryAnn).
