Diane Marie "Bunge" Prairie

9/26/1956 - 8/7/2025

Although Diane tried her hardest not to be the center of attention, her wit, humor, and unselfish nature always stood out. She was proudest of her family and was most content spending time with them and taking in the scenery—especially the sailboats as they sailed downriver in the background of a family gathering. Family wasn't just important; it was the center of her world.

Born on September 26, 1956, in St. Paul, MN, Diane grew up playing with dolls and pretending she was "Mommy." She would hide in her room playing Barbies long past the typical age most girls stopped. But as her father once said, "I refuse to mourn the loss of Diane's youth. The best is yet to come! Youth is wasted on the young." Diane didn’t waste any time and lived her life to the fullest—traveling, listening to her crush Bobby Sherman, reading, gardening, and enjoying every moment surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her back.

Her selflessness knew no bounds. She never hesitated to drop everything to attend a school play, soccer game, or dance recital—or just pick you and your friends up and taxi you around town. She became the second mom of each friend group and was always there for anyone who needed an ear to listen or a word of wisdom.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce Bunge; two sisters, Linda (Tim) and Laurie (Wayne); four children and nine grandchildren: Jessica (Devon, Piper, Tristan), Kelly (Tiago, Brianna, Jameson), Jason (Grand Pup: Ellie), and Leeann (Mark, Blake, Noelle, Lily, Lucas). She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Bunge. Her humor, generosity, and unconditional love will be treasured forever by all who were lucky enough to know her.

A private family gathering will be held to honor Diane's life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory.
