Dennard E. Percy

(The Flower Forever in our Hearts)

A flower is not meant to last forever, but for the time it has its life, we can enjoy its Beauty, and its vibrance. The way it makes us feel. You can appreciate it for all it is while you have it. That is why God gave us Dennard Eugene Percy. To give us like the flower, a moment in time with his beautiful soul. Born on December 11, 1983, as a young child he enjoyed the likes of Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Dick Tracy, and Transformers. As a teen transitioning into an adult he loved cars, barbecuing, kicking back, having a drink, and hip-hop music. Although to some surprise, his favorite song was Prince " I Will Die 4 U. If you needed a laugh, Dennard was able. His sense of humor was a big part of who he was. He could always randomly make you laugh with a joke. He was a consistent movie and song quoter. He expressed himself by finding a quote for just about everything. A gentle person but when he needed to protect someone he didn't hesitate. He loved his family, that is without question. He was about "family". Dennard held no hate in his heart. He was a very social person. He spoke to anyone no matter your race, religion, or creed. His willingness to converse with anyone was a part of his allure.

No matter how you knew Dennard, whether through relation, friendship, working with him, or just seeing him regularly in passing, the conclusion on who he was appears to be the same, that he was a "good guy". A man who would walk miles to get what he needed. Who would take odd jobs to provide. He never had too much pride in doing the right thing, and overall he was trying. He expressed the desire to get married before his passing. He also desired fatherhood. He had been pondering on the thought of leaving Minnesota and explore his chances in Florida, but he had wanted to make sure he had enough money before making the transition. He was hopeful about his future.

On May 1, 2024 Dennard was taken from us. He was our brother, son, friend, nephew, cousin, uncle, and to some a lover. No matter what title you held to him it was a treat if you got to know and love him for the good person he was. He had such a sweet spirit about him making the way he left this earth all the more painful. He enjoyed being at home. Home was where his comfort was, and it was the same place that was supposed to be his sanctuary where someone decided to end his life. In theses hours of grief, we may not understand why good souls like Dennard's ever depart so early. Why he unfortunately had to leave us when he had so much to give this world.

He had yet to hit his peak. We ask out loud "Why God?" and nothing seems to relieve the pain. To know my brother is to love him as he was a gem in this world. Dennard was not perfect as no human soul is, but, If you were lucky enough to know him, his laugh, his sense of humor, his willingness to talk (boy was he a talker on the phone), and his willingness to listen. To experience one of his hugs, a forehead kiss, his quality time, his friendship, or his love we all can be thankful for.

Like the flower, Dennard came and went too soon. He can no longer grow and blossom into the man he was trying to be. From the moment we had him, he is forever imprinted in our hearts and minds. Like a song that makes you smile when you hear it. That feeling is what the memories of Dennard will hold for us until we can see him again. He is forever in our hearts. For as long as we never let go of our memories...Dennard will FOREVER live in you and me.

Rest in Peace Dennard Eugene Percy. A.K.A " Gucci" You are now free from the woes of the world. You left your body, departed from your shell, but I know this is not goodbye but to be continued....
