David “Dave” Bruder
David C. Bruder, age 89, just shy of his 90th birthday, passed away peacefully August 27, 2024, after a brief illness. Proceeded in death by parents Orestes and Myrtle Bruder, brother Martin, sister Margurite Overlund, and first wife of 30 years Patricia Bruder (nee Bursinger). Survived by wife of 30 years Carol (nee Truax), son David (Michelle), daughter Debi Kislenger (Ken). Grandchildren Eric Bruder (Amber), Ryan Bruder (Nicole), Alicia Bruder, Ian Kislenger (Shannon), and Tori Kislenger. Great-grandchildren Kinsleigh Bruder and Emmett Bruder. Brother-in-law David Overlund, nephew Martin (Wendi) Overlund, and Kris (Adam) Gabel. Carol’s family Vicki Smith (Steve), Rose Danielson (Scott), and Frank Buchholz (Jodie). He was born in Hastings, grew up in St. Paul, and graduated Monroe High School in 1952. Attended Dunwoody College of Technology Tool & Die program. In his younger days he enjoyed riding his 1948 Harley-Davidson Panhead, He also, served in the Army. After marrying first wife Patricia they moved to White Bear Lake, where they raised their family. Later moving to Oakdale after marrying second wife Carol. He retired after a long career at Hartzell Manufacturing in St. Paul. After retiring he worked on many projects including building and racing an old-time open-wheeled sprint car. He was an avid woodworker and metal worker doing many projects for family and friends.
Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Woodbury, on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:00 am. Visitation starting one hour prior to service. Internment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Mahtomedi immediately following service.
