Colleen Natterstad

February 16, 1962 — August 17, 2023

White Bear Lake, MN

It is with great sadness to announce that on the evening of Thursday August 17 th , 2023, Colleen Natterstad (nee Conroy) loving and caring wife and mother of three quietly passed away at her home in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

Colleen is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothe Conroy (nee Schwartz), father, W. Pat Conroy, sisters, Joan Hilton and Maureen Kurtz, sister-in-law Lora Conroy, and brother-in-law Jim Keller. Colleen is survived by her husband Mike Natterstad, three children Tess, Hunter and Elvis, her siblings, Mary (Bob) Johnson, Ona, Ann, Pat, Mike, Lisa, Bridget (Tim) Johnson, Sheila Keller, extended family members, Kim (Alvaro) Domenighi, Marnie (Ross) Gibbs and her many extended family members and friends.

Colleen was born on February 16 th , 1962 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She grew up in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, which lay on the east shore of White Bear Lake. Her childhood was idyllic; she had a house to share with 10 siblings, which made things a little tight. It was this closeness that created the warm, loving and kind person she became.

Colleen attended Wildwood Elementary School. Although coming across as seemingly shy and quiet little girl, she had no problem finding friends that remained by her side throughout her life. Colleen then attended Mahtomedi Middle School and Mahtomedi High School. There, she was active in sports and other extracurricular activities. She excelled in her studies and graduated in 1980.

From there her journey continued. Colleen's passion was people, what better way to be with people than to possess the artistic ability to transform them into beautiful women and handsomer men while cutting their hair. She was an artist, a real professional. With her loving and kind demeanor, she could strike up conversations that created bonds with her customers that lasted almost three decades, with some right up to the day of her passing. Colleen and Co. For Hair became the center of her life next to her family. All who knew her loved Colleen dearly. Colleen met Mike Natterstad and they married near the same lake shore of White Bear Lake where she was born and raised. Shortly after their marriage they were blessed with a beautiful little red headed girl named Tess. Their whole life changed and of course became more purposeful. What a little sweetie. Next arrival was their first boy Hunter, a cute little toe head full of energy and charm, and last but not least Elvis was born, he, of course, became the star of the show.

The Natterstad family, with their dogs, lived in a beautiful home located on the west shore of White Bear Lake. There, Colleen grew and nurtured their three lovely children and flower garden while juggling a full time business. She took pride in caring for her family, always putting them first; making sure everyone was fed and off to their daily lives with a smile on her face. Their door was always open and their home was soon bustling with children and friends going in and out. It was a home away from home for so many people.

As Colleen grew older, her relationships with family, friends, and the Lord grew stronger, along with her hugs. As her faith grew, so did her gratitude for life. You could always find her tending her garden, cooking a delicious homemade meal, or admiring the view of White Bear Lake. She always left an impact on others with an unforgettable kindness and her everlasting laughter.

We are so grateful for the generosity and wonderful support we have received from our family and friends throughout this difficult time. The love and caring gestures everyone has given to our family has, at times, been almost overwhelming. No amount of thanks can express the feelings we have in our hearts that you all have been here for us in our time of need. We feel greatly blessed to have you all in our lives.

Colleen's Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday September 6th, at the Dellwood Country Club, 29 East Highway 96, Dellwood, Minnesota between the times of 4:00 and 7:00 PM and there will be a 30 minute Memorial from 6:00 - 6:30 PM.
