Cheryl Golden-Black

October 29, 1950 — December 20, 2022

Cheryl Golden Black, "Charlie" to her family and friends, left us to sing with the Angels December 20, 2022.  Charlie was born in Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Roosevelt and the University of Minnesota. After several years in New York as a model and studio manager, she returned to Golden Valley to manage her father's heavy machinery hauling business.

She did very well but was forced to close the doors due to Eminent Domain. This enabled her to purchase a little A-frame on Maryland Avenue in St. Paul and open The Garden House on Maryland. She was an active part of the community and dedicated to making it a better place.

Charlie closed the doors on the Garden House last summer after 23 years, to retire and travel.

Charlie is survived by her devoted husband John (Chopper) Black, a well-known musician and recording engineer. her sister, Junette, brother-in-law Terry, niece Lisa, and nephew Corey.

A celebration of Charlie’s life is planned for June 24 at North Heights Lutheran. Call (650) 996-8037 for more information. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wounded Warriors, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
