Charles Bernard Didier

Charles "Bernie" Didier, age 74, of St. Paul, MN, died peacefully on February 20, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan; daughters, Lisa (Mike) Groshens and Stacey (Josh) Newman; grandchildren, Ari, Grace, Max, Nick, Peter and Zach; father, Calvin Didier, and siblings, Camille (James) Ross, Christian Didier, John (Hui Ying) Didier and Rochelle (David Kurtz) Didier. Preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Didier.

Born in LaGrange, IN, Bernie moved around with his family before they settled in St. Paul in 1970, where he spent his adult life. Prior to retirement in 2018, he was a partner at the W. Pitt Rolfe Accounting firm for 26 years, and then served as Accounting Director for the IUOE Local 49.

Lovingly labeled by his family as "CPA by day, Musician by night", what Bernie wanted to do most was play music. Talented in many instruments, his love for rock-n-roll and the blues led him to guitar and bass. He first played with his brothers around the college scene, and then, notably, he played bass on Saturday nights with Dave Ray and Tony Glover as a member of the Volunteers of the Blue Knight at the former St. Anthony East bar in NE Minneapolis. Having Scottish roots, Bernie also played bagpipes and marched in the Brian Boru Bagpipe Band.

While accounting was his profession and music was his passion, the family ranch was his sanctuary. Located in a valley high in the mountains of west central Wyoming, the ranch was his place to rest and recharge. The east fork of the Wind River sang to him, and for more than forty years he went there as often as he could. It is there that the entire family will think of him breathing the mountain air, playing guitar on the porch, and reading by starlight.

A gathering for family and friends is planned for this summer.
