Catherine M. "Cathy" Brewster, 71, of St. Paul, formerly of Owatonna, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026.
Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Mya Garzon, and her parents, Donald and Ramona Duxbury.
She is survived by her children, Autumn (Mike) Koch, Brandon Lund, Emily Garzon, and Danny (Carolyn) Brewster; her cherished grandchildren, Astrid, Elly, Piper (Reese), Parker, Leo, Zoe, and Sky; along with many other family members and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.
Cathy grew up in the La Crosse, Wisconsin, area and graduated from Onalaska High School in 1972. In 1990, she moved to Owatonna, Minnesota, where she raised her family while working for many years at Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank. In 2010, Cathy relocated to St. Paul to support her daughters through life's challenges, where she remained until her passing.
Cathy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flower garden and took great pride in the raspberry patch she nurtured each summer. She never turned down a good cup of coffee or something sweet to enjoy with it, especially if it meant spending time with family or friends.
An amazing baker and cook, Cathy's kitchen was the heart of her home. Countless memories were made around her table as she lovingly prepared meals, desserts, and treats for every holiday, celebration, and ordinary day that she made feel special. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, cared for, and at home.
She was a fiercely devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Cathy never hesitated to show up for the people she loved, whether it was celebrating life's happiest moments or offering comfort during its hardest ones. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
More than anything, Cathy loved her family. She often told them, "I love you so much I can't say it," a simple phrase that perfectly captured the depth of her love or "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck," words that wrapped them in the same warmth and security she gave so freely throughout her life.
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love she shared, the traditions she created, and the memories she leaves behind will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, which would have been Cathy's 72nd birthday, at the Church of St. Matthew , 510 Hall Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55107. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. An additional visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul, MN 55106.
