Carol Whitman

Carol Whitman peacefully passed away on August 9, 2025 in Maplewood, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Margaret Oberholtzer. Survived by her siblings, Paul (Carol) Oberholtzer, and Lynda Schaak; her children, Dawn (Greg) Gilsrud, Troy (Annette) Whitman, Theresa (Greg) Schloer, Chad (Melissa) Whitman, Steve (Jennifer) Whitman, Mark (Kelly) Whitman; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was born December 16, 1945 in St. Paul, MN and dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a devoted and respected daycare provider. She touched countless young lives, offering not only a safe and nurturing space, but also a warm presence that became a cherished part of many families' stories. Over the years, she became lovingly known as "Grandma Carol" to countless children, whether related by blood, or simply lucky enough to be loved by her. She treasured any occasion with her family, especially Christmas, when the house was filled with love and excessive generosity and cheer. Her greatest joy was her family, which of course extended to all the families she cared for throughout her many years as a caregiver. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Carol will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 18, 2025 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Rd, Mahtomedi, MN 55115, with visitation beginning at 10 AM.
