Listen to Obituary

Beverly Ernestine Zweig (née Marty), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 83 on November 26, 2025. Born on December 2, 1941, in New Richmond, Wisconsin, Beverly was the eldest of four children born to Arthur Marty and Elizabeth (Menard) Marty. She spent her childhood in Bayport, Minnesota, where she developed a lifelong love of the outdoors and the strong sense of community that would shape her life. Beverly graduated from Stillwater High School, where she met the young man who would become the great love of her life.
On September 1, 1962, Beverly married her high school sweetheart, Gary Zweig. Together they raised two children, Brian Zweig and Michelle Baumgart, and later welcomed the joy of three grandchildren-Benjamin, Hayley, and Nathaneal.
Service to others was the hallmark of Beverly's life. During the years she and Gary lived in Springboro, Ohio, Beverly worked for many years at the St. Vincent de Paul men's shelter in downtown Dayton. Her commitment to supporting those experiencing poverty and homelessness was not merely a job, but a calling. She brought empathy, dignity, and a warm smile to every person who crossed her path.
After retiring to White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Beverly continued her life of service with energy and purpose. She became an active member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, where she volunteered extensively and served on the Social Justice Committee. She was also a dedicated volunteer with Hope for the Journey Home, MICAH - Metropolitan Interfaith Council on Affordable Housing, Habitat for Humanity, and many other causes. Beverly believed deeply in showing love through action, and she lived that belief every day.
Beverly loved gardening, quiet moments outdoors, and tending to the plants and flowers that filled her home with life. She cared for the people around her-with patience, nurturing, and grace.
Beverly is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Gary; her sister Sally (James) Altier; brothers Arthur "Fred" (Patsy) Marty and David (Beverly) Marty; her children Brian (Tracey) Zweig and Michelle (James) Baumgart; and her cherished grandchildren BenjaminHayley, and Nathaneal. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth.
Those who knew Beverly will remember her kindness, humility, unwavering compassion, and the way she made each person feel seen and valued. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she poured into her family and community.
Funeral Service will be held 11AM Monday, December 15, 2025 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake, with visitation starting one hour prior at the church.
