Betty Nelson

Betty (nee Olson) Nelson, age 89, formerly of White Bear Lake, MN., passed away on Jan. 30, 2024 in Brainerd, MN. She was born Nov. 17, 1933 in St. Paul. She married Gerald D. Nelson of White Bear Lake in 1953, and they had five sons who were raised in White Bear Lake. She was trained as a chef after her children were grown and worked at Bobbie's in the Park in White Bear Lake and the Mermaid restaurant in Mounds View. She spent most of her adult life in White Bear Lake and was active in the Women's Jaycees. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Gerry"; and her sons, Roger and Bradley. She is survived by her sons, Mark, John (Nancy), and, David (Mary); as well as brother-in-law, Curtis Nelson (Barb); nieces, Lynn Nelson, Nancy Michael; nephews, Kurt Nelson and Erik Nelson. She was committed to her family and her friends and will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Christ the King, 1660 Birch Lake Ave, White Bear Lake, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery in White Bear Lake.
