LIFESTORY With the last name of McTigue, Ann was 100% Irish and always proud of it! Born in 1930, she was the second oldest of four children. She grew up in St. Paul, and after high school she worked for the telephone company as a switchboard operator. A beloved mutual friend, Regina, set her up on a blind date with Harvey Leroy Stockness. They quickly fell in love and were married in May 1950 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in St. Paul. They settled in Roseville where they raised their four children. Ann was a stay-at-home mom for many years until Harvey started his own concrete construction company, Stockness Construction, where she worked in the office. The family-owned company was subsequently run by both of their sons and continues to be run by their grandsons. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she loved to read, play cards, games, do her daily crossword puzzles, and go boating on one of their boats (Annie’s Trip I, II, III and IV).
In 1988, Harv and Ann, longtime empty nesters by then, moved to Vadnais Heights and joined St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Ann’s faith in the Lord never wavered. She would often say, “Jesus is my best friend!” Prayer was a big part of her life and she was always grateful for her many blessings. Ann enjoyed her family as much as anyone ever could. She loved nothing more than spending quality time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, especially those great-grands. GG adored all 29 of them, as she did her 14 grandkids, and they adored her right back. Whether celebrating accomplishments, modeling gratitude, sharing a perfect blend of positive encouragement and guidance, or simply having a chat about the day, she embodied love and family at her core.
Ann and Harv also enjoyed traveling and took several memorable trips to Europe, Hawaii, and East Asia to name a few. Like everyone else in the family, they loved cabin trips up north. They were blessed with wonderful friends, many lifelong, in Minnesota and Florida. For nearly 50 years they spent a good part of the winter at their condo in Pompano Beach, Florida, creating a warm and welcoming environment for family and friends to enjoy each other’s company. Ann was the epitome of grace and beauty in all things she did. Above all else, she was a role model for family togetherness, her strong faith, and enduring love that will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
