Allan Leroy Woitaszewski, age 82, died on April 11, 2026, with family members at his side at Gable Pines Senior Living in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.
Allan was born in Slayton, Minnesota on March 17, 1944, to Dennis and Cornelia Woitaszewski. He was the first of three brothers. Allan spent his early school years living in Iona, Minnesota, before moving to Slayton in sixth grade, where he graduated from high school in 1962. Having been described as one of the finest athletes in Slayton history, Allan was named a Sporting News High School All-American football player following his senior year and set the Slayton (Murray County Central) High School track and field record for the shot put.
During high school, Allan began dating his classmate, Nancy Busch. The day after graduating, Allan and Nancy left Minnesota and moved to Texas, where Allan attended the University of Houston on a football scholarship. Allan and Nancy married in 1963 and had two children in Texas, Tracee and Scott. The family moved to southern California in 1973, and eventually returned to southern Minnesota, settling in Worthington in 1978. In Worthington, Allan and Nancy owned the House of Wood gift store in the Northland Mall from 1978 to 1985. Allan later worked for the First State Bank Southwest in Worthington and retired in 2006 as Vice President of Operations. Following their retirement, Allan and Nancy moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to their children and grandchildren, living in both North Branch and Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.
Allan's interests and hobbies were vast. He loved traveling with Nancy, especially to visit Civil War Battlefields throughout the United States. He enjoyed researching his family history which led to trips to Nebraska, Poland, The Netherlands, and beyond. Allan also loved reading, especially about American military history; and he was a prolific oil painter, photographer, and wood worker, leaving behind many beautiful and treasured pieces. Allan was a dedicated husband and father, viewing his role as a provider as his most important job.
Allan is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Nancy; daughter Tracee (Dave) Miller, son Scott (Tina) Woitaszewski, four grandchildren (Brianna and Christopher Miller [Madeleine Shore], Jake and Nicholas Woitaszewski), and three great-grandchildren (Jazmyn Johnson, Christine and Caroline Miller). He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Cornelia (Van Den Brink) Woitaszewski and brothers Gary and Mark Woitaszewski. As a student of family history, Allan would also want to acknowledge his numerous aunts, uncles, grandparents, and others whose shoulders he stood on; especially his great uncle Martin Roy, who died in France while serving in the U.S. Army during World War I.
A memorial service will be held at Mueller Funeral Home in White Bear Lake, MN on April 20, 2026. Visitation will be at 10:00AM, followed by a service at 11:00 and lunch to follow. Burial will take place at 1:30 at Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville.
The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers of Gable Pines and Interim Home Care and Hospice for their loving care of Allan.
In lieu of flowers and other memorials, the family requests donations to fight Lewy Body Dementia (https://Dementia Society of America/) or to assist in the preservation of Civil War Battlefields through the American Battlefield Trust (https://www.battlefields.org/). Thank you.
